As it is one of the better established branches of the union, the Bethlehem branch plays a critical role in strengthening other branches, supporting them and creating new ones wherever and whenever they are needed.

The Bethlehem Branch is seen as an example of excellence for the following reasons:

1. Bethlehem University is ranked no1 in the West Bank and was the first university in Palestine to offer degrees in Social Work and Sociology.

2. Bethlehem has the greatest number of social services programs in the West Bank, helping collaboration efforts.

3. The cultural diversity of Bethlehem helps to promote understanding and cooperation across religions and ethnicities.

Current Projects

Trainings and Workshops: we constantly plan courses and workshops for our members to increase their qualifications, improve their social work skills and create connections between them.

Psychological Crisis Intervention: we collaborate with local organizations to assist children and families with psychological distress and disability.

Policy development programme we participate in conferences; discussing policies on social work and social services and helping to define the roles and responsibilities of our challenging profession.

Social Workers Network: In order to help communication and cooperation between professionals and institutions we want to develop a database to collect and prganise our members' details and CV's.

Exchange Programs: We aim to organize exchanges with international associations of social workers to share knowledge, experience and expertise. We have very strong relations with our Norwegian and British counterparts, with whom regular exchange programs continue to be very successful and are mutually beneficial for the members of all unions.
